2020 sewing goals

There’s a question I dread being asked when I tell someone I’m a seamstress by trade:

“Did you make that?” - (in reference to what I’m currently wearing)

Although I make and alter clothing for a living, I don’t get much time to make clothes for myself. Or (if I’m being really hones) have the energy to sew in my spare time.

One of my goals for 2020 is to make a concerted effort to grow my handmade wardrobe.

There are so many great indie pattern designers out there these days. I love looking through hashtags on Instagram to see all the different versions that have been made. It’s so inspiring and gets me really excited to try out some styles for myself.

Here are a few of my current favourites that I'll be making this year...

The Sienna Makers Jacket
Paper Theory Patterns
The Zadie Jumpsuit
The Cologne Blouse

The Hannah Wrap Dress
The Belemnite Dress
The Miller Trouser

I'll be sharing all my me-makes here on the blog and on Instagram, so keep your eye out for updates. I'm also hoping to start doing some sewing tuition this year, so making pieces up for myself will be a good way of trialing patterns that I can recommend to my students.

Hopefully you're also feeling inspired now! If you'd like pointing in the direction of other great indie pattern designs/designers, just drop me a line. I'd be happy to help encourage your sewing buzz!
